As a mother to twin toddlers and a newborn, Nicole knows what it means to have to work hard to keep your health a priority. At one point in her life, Nicole was so consumed by how bad she felt in her own skin that she checked out of being “real” and instead spent her time obsessing about how she could be more thin, more athletic, and well… more anything. After finding a love of running and a respect for her unique beauty, she has devoted her life to helping women and girls drop their body baggage and embrace their unique beauty and strength too.
For over sixteen years, Nicole has provided sports medicine/rehabilitation, personal training, and group exercise to clients, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge gleaned from years of practice in medical and therapeutic health settings with specialties ranging from orthopedics, internal medicine, sports performance, pre- and post-rehab, and physical fitness. She currently acts as a personal champion, serving clients in the Boulder and Denver areas, tailoring programs to their individual needs.
Nicole is no stranger to the rigors of personal health: an accomplished runner, she competed as a Division I athlete with the University of Iowa in cross-country and track and field and has completed both the Boston Marathon and the Chicago Accenture Triathlon.
Her education includes:
1. Master’s degree in exercise science and athletic training, University of Iowa
2. Strength and conditioning specialist certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
3. Athletic trainer certification through the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA-BOC)
4 Pre- and post-natal fitness provider certification through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)
5. CHEK Level I practitioner (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiologist)
In addition to her work with youth and young adult and collegiate sports performance coaching, Nicole has developed pre- and post-rehabilitation for acute and chronic orthopedic conditions, and tween and teen workshops to spark high self-esteem in young girls. Nicole specializes in exercise therapy techniques and has directed and written multiple protocols for orthopedic physician offices and infertility patients.

Pam Deese is a Certified Hanna Somatic Educator who has trained in Functional Movement modalities for the past 12 years. Have you heard of Hanna Somatic Education (HSE)? We hadn't! It's a gentle movement based therapy designed to reset the habituated patterns set up from past injuries, work related repetitive task, stress or just through years of living. Somatic education is a natural, gentle, and safe way to improve posture and restore freedom of movement. In an HSE session you will be guided through slow movements suitable for your particular needs that will help you learn to regain control over tight muscles, strengthen weak ones and improve coordination. The goal is to teach you long term solutions for pain related muscle tension and poor posture. Somatic Education a proven technique based on the Somatic (mind- body) connection that restores pain free movements by increasing your brain’s motor output and overriding reflex and habituated patterns. Pam works to combine Functional Movement Systems (FMS) practices to isolate the root causes of pain and or limitation that prohibit someone from reaching their movement goals. Pam is excited to be joining our gym and looking forward to working with clients. She is new to Boulder and a full time student at Naropa University where she is studying Somatic Psychology and Peace Studies. If you are interesting in learning more give Pam a call (256)656-7247. Gili was in the very first group of people to get certified in Foundation Training, and was one of the first instructors in Boulder. Having worked as a graphic designer for 15 years, she knows first-hand the impact of sitting at a computer for hours at a time, and what it can do to the body.
After a 12-year struggle with chronic back pain, she was introduced to Foundation Training and was blown away by the effectiveness of it -- in just four days of doing this work, the pain went away, and Gili has remained pain-free for over a year and a half. Gili believes that a job (particularly a desk job) should not harm one's body, and she is committed to helping other "desk jockies" stay healthy, strong, and out of pain. Gili also trained as a dancer for 15 years, and has completed some Pilates teacher training. She is a Foundation Training Instructor: Levels 1 & 2. Foundation Training is offered on the IAM class calendar Thursday evenings, 6:45-7:30pm. Come try it out, first class is free!
